Shuttle Info

TRANSPORTATION TO HAWKS CAY

1. RENT A CAR AT EITHER MIAMI OR FT LAUDERDALE AIRPORTS

All South Florida airports offer a variety of rental car agencies to choose from. (In addition, you can rent a car at Marathon Airport, located just a few miles from the resort, for daily excursions on the Keys.)

Hawks Cay is 90 miles by car from Miami, and 130 miles from Fort Lauderdale.

2. TAKE A RIDE ON THE KEYS SHUTTLE VAN

You can book a special-rate, round-trip service on Keys Shuttle (run by Raoul and Marilyn. Their website is www.keysshuttle.com and their number is 305-289-9997)

For our wedding guests, Keys Shuttle is offering a special rate of $70 round trip per person. For some reason they divide it up this way: $69 from Miami International to Hawks Cay and $1 return. It’s $80 round trip from Ft. Lauderdale.

These are not private shuttle buses so other travelers heading to various points on the Keys may share the ride with you. Each van holds between 10 and 12 passengers so if enough of our wedding guests arrive in Florida at the same time, then they will end up on the same van. Raoul said he will add another shuttle bus to accommodate large groups arriving together.

These regularly scheduled shuttles leave every two hours from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Airports -- 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 4:30 PM, 6:30 PM, 8:30 PM from Ft. Lauderdale and 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 9:00 PM from Miami International.

Here’s how to arrange for this service.

a. Go to keysshuttle.com

b. Click on “Pricing & Reservations”

c. You’ll be taken to the “Reservation & Fare Quote System” page.

d. At the bottom of page, find the space for entering our “group ID.”

e. Type in the name Coate

f. You’ll now be directed to the page for our wedding party. (Under the van photo, make sure you see “Coate and Allora Wedding.” If you’re traveling between November 6th and November 20th, you’ll get this special rate.

g. Go to “Arrivals” and click on the “ROUNDTRIP” button

h. Add in your arriving flight information and departing flight information

The Keys Shuttle company will check in with you prior to your departure to confirm this information is still accurate.

Remember that you need to put in the name Coate at the bottom of the “Reservation & Fare Quote System” to get this great price.

If you’d rather call them, go ahead and make a reservation that way.

Here’s where you find the shuttle van at the airport: you meet the shuttle at the Miami Airport at ground level (baggage claim) between terminal D & E. You cross over two sets of lanes -- across the first set of taxi lanes, then across the second set of lanes for private vehicles --and look for the sign “Public Bus Terminal.” It will be on your right hand side. Look for the signature white shuttle vans with a Red Stripe that say Keys Shuttle.

From Ft Lauderdale Airport the Shuttle meets you at ground level (baggage claim) outside the terminal of your arriving airline.

3. BOOK CAR SERVICE THROUGH EMERALD TRANSPORTATION

There’s another really great way to get to Hawks Cay. It’s through a private Chauffeur Service: Emerald Transportation. 305-852-1468. The lady in charge is Grace Green.

Her email contact is keysrides@aol.com

For our wedding guests this company is also giving us a discount rate. Grace will set up a database detailing everyone’s inbound and outbound travel information and then create group of people who are arriving around the same time to make sure everyone pays the lowest rate possible.

She’ll let you know two days prior to travel three things: your pick-up time, who else is traveling at the same time as you and how much you can expect to pay based on the number who will be traveling with you.

If you don’t like the rate, you can opt out at this time and sign up for the public shuttle van. (See above info.) This company will then rearrange the groups accordingly.

You will pay $37.37 for a one-way trip if you are in a vehicle with the maximum number of people. (The per-person rate will increase to cover the total charge of the vehicle if less than the maximum number of people is scheduled for any vehicle.)

-- Town car (maximum 4 people)

-- SUV (maximum 5 people)

-- Mini van (maximum 8 people)

-- Large van (maximum 10 people)

As soon as you have finalized your airline reservation, call or email Grace with your information. She will get you into her database.

She will make sure that there are cars available at Hawks Cay for your return trip to the airport. You should plan on leaving Hawks Cay four hours before your departure time.

Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with regarding transportation.

Why the Keys?

Some of you may be wondering why we picked the Florida Keys to get married. The Allora men are avid fisherman and frequently travel to the Keys for their fishing fix. A few years ago Jay showed me all of his favorite Keys' spots and I fell in love with the place too. We can't wait to share this special place with you in November!

1-888-313-5749
All wedding guests will receive a 25% discount off of the prevailing room rate. Guests should call 1-888-313-5749 when making reservations and mention you are attending the Coate-Allora wedding and provide the wedding offer code 41R7HP. (When calling, please mention the name “Coate” first.) Because of the wide range of room options, we are hopeful you will find suitable accommodations at the resort. However, there are other hotel options in the area. Marathon, Florida is located 9 miles, or 15 minutes, from Hawks Cay and offers a wide range of hotel accommodations. As a reminder, all wedding activities will take place on the Hawks Cay premise.

Room Types
There are many different type of rooms at Hawks Cay including standard and suite rooms at the main hotel and villas sprinkled throughout the property to accommodate larger groups. Jay and I are staying at the main hotel but we love the fact that this resort offers larger Villas for families and friends to stay together. Below you will find descriptions of the various types of Villas on the premises. We hope this information will help you make your accommodation decisions. (We’re providing this because we found their Web site to be a little confusing!) Please remember that this is a 60-acre resort. If you opt to rent a villa you may not be right next to the main hotel but you will be in walking distance. What’s more, the resort offers a golf cart shuttle service between the main hotel and the villas. The marina, spa, fitness center, and kid’s pool are not located at the main hotel, but located in close proximity.

Hawks Cay Preferred Villas:
These Preferred Villas offer guests their very own two, three or four-bedroom options. There are more than 100 Preferred Villas located throughout the resort. They feature stylish décor, contemporary kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, and oversized decks – most with water views.
Preferred Villas are located within four Villages:
Sunset Village: Skirting the ocean’s edge, Sunset Village is located in proximity to the marina, spa, fitness center, and kid’s pool. The village also features its own pool called the Sunset Pool -- a tucked-away oasis surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. Per the Hawks Cay website, these villas are ideal for small families or couples, offering all the comforts of home in a two-story townhouse. The furnished deck and balcony of each villa will let you start off the day with a barefoot breakfast as well as spend time in the afternoon and evening, enjoying the vistas and sunset.
Marina Village: Marina Village is adjacent to the marina, which is a good choice if you are a boating and fishing enthusiast. Set waterside, the family-like atmosphere of Marina Village personifies the casual Keys lifestyle. Near the Marina there are restaurants and a waterfront promenade for taking a stroll. Fishing charters, boat rentals, watersports, a dockside market, and marina support services are all located on Marina Village premises. The villas in the Marina Village are two-story, private villas in a townhome-like setting with balconies and porches and expansive views. You may also choose a one-level unit located in a five-story Marina Village building, each with screened-in lanais and open floor plans.
The Welcome Dinner on Friday, November 12, will be held at the Marina.
Harbor Village: Harbor Village offers boardwalks and boat-in, boat-out access which make this village a sea-lovers' haven. Harbor Village is located in proximity to the main resort.
Some of the most spacious villas are in Harbor Village, offering breezy covered decks on both floors, easy access to boat dockage, and beautiful views of the inland harbor, Lake Lucille. Along the canal leading into the harbor you will find two-story villas, each with a gated patio featuring lush foliage that provide a private, tropical retreat.
Sanctuary Village: The setting for these villas includes tree-lined streets and a quiet, tropical sanctuary. Centrally located on the resort grounds, the Sanctuary Village is close to the marina, spa, fitness center, and kid’s pool. These are most luxurious and spacious villa accommodations, including two-story, detached private villas located on an exclusive gated street. All villas here have heated splash pools with roomy back yards and furnished patios, providing plenty of space as well as privacy.

Duck Key Villas:

These Villas are located throughout the resort and are privately owned and furnished in a relaxed and laid-back Florida Keys décor No two villas are the same. Guests still have access to housekeeping and all resort amenities. These villas may be a more affordable option to the Preferred Villas.
